World Ski Championships 2023: Planica

 


The Norwegian ski jumper Marius Lindvik has only one goal to achieve at the World Ski Championships in Planica, Slovenia, which is to finish on the podium in both the individual competitions on normal hill and large hill as well as in the team competitions. Will he succeed? The Planica springboard will give an answer. On Friday 24 February, in the qualification Marius qualified 37th, jumping 94.0 m and with a score of 116.2 points. On Saturday 25 February, in the 1st Round he finished 18th, jumping 97.0 m and scoring 122.3 points, enough to qualify for the Final Round. In the Final Round he finished 22nd, jumping 93.0 m, with a score of 111.2 points and a total score of 233.5 points. On Thursday 2 March, in the qualification Marius qualified 15th, jumping 131.5 m and with a score of 126.3 points. On Friday 3 March, in the 1st Round he finished 21st, jumping 128.0 m and scoring 122.3 points, enough to qualify for the Final Round. In the Final Round he finished 19th, jumping 129.5 m, with a score of 127.4 points and a total score of 249.7 points. Finally, on Saturday 4 March, Team Norway fielded Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal, Halvor Egner Granerud, Johann André Forfang and Marius Lindvik in Team Competition. Marius, who jumped third in the Norwegian team's line up, jumped 125.5 m in the 1st Round and 131.5 m in the Final Round. Norway finished 2nd, with a total score of 1166.0 points, behind Slovenia and ahead of Austria. Marius Lindvik didn't do very well at the World Ski Championships with below expectations and less than perfect jumps, but he consoled himself by taking home the silver medal in the Team Competition.
