Winter Olympics Milano-Cortina 2026
The wait has finally come. The 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics in ski jumping will be held in Predazzo. Will Marius Lindvik be able to retain his Olympic champion status? Only he will know the answer. On Monday, February 9th, Marius placed 9th in the 1st Round on normal hill, jumping 103.5 m and scoring 130.4 points, enough to qualify for the Final Round. In the Final Round, he placed 12th, jumping 104.5 m, scoring 127.9 points, for a total score of 258.3 points. On Tuesday, February 10, Norway's Team Normal Hill team consisted of Marius Lindvik, Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal, Anna Odine Strøm and Eirin Maria Kvandal. Marius, who finished fourth on the Norwegian team, jumped 97.5 m in the 1st Round and 100.5 m in the Final Round. Norway finished second, behind Slovenia and ahead of Japan, with a total score of 1038.3 points. Finally, on Saturday 14 February, on large hill, in the 1st Round Marius placed 32nd, jumping 123.0 m and with a score of 119.3 points, not enough to qualify for the Final Round. Marius Lindvik failed to retain his Olympic title, but he still managed to take home the silver medal in the Team Normal Hill competition. He had jumped very well in the training series, but in competitions he hadn't managed to land the jumps as well as he had in training. Immediately after winning the silver medal in the Team Normal Hill competition, Marius responded to Philipp Raimund, who had won gold in the individual normal hill competition the day before, regarding the Trondheim incident:
"We were really good friends, we played video games together, but after last year he was too vocal in the media and I didn't want to be that close of a friend anymore. But it's not too late yet."
"Of course it's sad. It's hard to be a good friend when the media doesn't speak well of you."
Ladies and gentlemen, Marius Lindvik. The ski jumper who always tells the truth and detests criticism and insults. A true athlete who always wants to be respected, for better or for worse. Now it's time for the World Cup in Kulm, and Marius will finally be able to make a difference.
Until next time!
